Global Positioning System

Today I discuss about a novel gift of technology - the Global Positioning System, commonly known as the GPS, and some of its applications. I find the GPS one of the most fascinating creations of the human mind.

GPS is a worldwide radio-navigation system that was developed by the US Department of Defense. It uses satellite signals to track the location or position of vehicles or vessels on earth. In addition to military purposes, you can use it in marine and terrestrial navigation and for location based services.

Nowadays, it is used in the transportation industry and by the mobile service providers also.

If the developments continue the way they are currently taking place, you will soon find the GPS technology being used in many different applications like in investigation and rehabilitation.
