GPS maps will help in drug trials

I feel that the efficiency of any technology is directly proportional to the number of fields it can be applied to. Global Positioning System (GPS) technology stands to get a perfect 10 on this criteria …

Today, I will tell you one of its uses in detecting and controlling drug peddlers.

Yakima County has developed GPS maps which will help prosecuting drug peddlers, who operate near schools or school bus-stops. Using GPS, the county Geographic Information Services department has created these maps that show the location of all bus stops and public and private school campuses in Yakima.

The maps, which show the 1,000-foot distance from a sale that can get the defendant double jail time and double fines, are now an official record and are admissible in court.

I find the development a welcome one and believe that this method should be used in other countries as well.
